Deep drawing metal stamping parts
Deep-drawing stamping is a metal stamping process that transforms
flat metal into three-dimensional shapes. We can convert stainless
steel, brass, copper, aluminum, steel, nickel and many other metals
into cylindrical, rectangular and square shapes. A punching machine
composed of a die and a punch forms the deep-drawn parts. As long
as the length or depth of the shape exceeds half the diameter of
the part, it is considered a "deep drawn" part. Prototypes and
short-term services can create parts of different sizes and shapes
according to your design.
Progressive drawing die As a die forms a shape from a flat sheet of metal, there is a need for the material to move into the shape of the die. The flow of material is controlled through pressure
applied to the blank and lubrication applied to the die or the
blank. If the form moves too easily, wrinkles will occur in the
part. To correct this, more pressure or less lubrication is applied
to the blank to limit the flow of material and cause the material
to stretch or thin. If too much pressure is applied, the part will
become too thin and break.
Drawing metal is the science of finding the correct balance between wrinkles and breaking to achieve a successful part.
As a general rule, 3 times of metal thickness can be used for a start point. If the part shows evidence of cracked, the tool has been machined metal safe, thus allowing for additional radius. The part specification may require a small radius under the flange that may be achieved with one draw, as opposed to several draws to size the radius.

Deep drawn stainless steel
In the deep drawing process, the sheet metal is processed into the desired part shape using a mechanical press and a series of progressive dies. First, the stainless steel plate is "punched" or cut into a round or special-shaped flat plate. From there, the blank is fed into the wire drawing machine, where the steel punches sequentially press the metal into the die, and each die moves the material closer to the final shape of the part. Produce seamless one-piece metal parts.
Any holes that may be required during the design process are punched through the part after the drawing process. After the part is finished, trim the excess material.
Deep drawing is a "cold working" process. When stainless steel is stretched and formed into a part shape, its grain structure changes and the material undergoes work hardening. The physical strength of deep-drawn stainless steel parts is much higher than its original material.
